We offer everything from therapeutic and sports massage to Thai and cupping for:
Most of our clients are competitive athletes and we want to say that often times, in many sports, coaches were just players themselves. Most have unfortunately never had any formal kinesio, athletic, weightlifting, or personal training experience. They often practice too much and over-train which leads to overuse, burnout, and increased injury. They also do not know how to properly warm up or cool down and rarely give homework in the form of self-care, appropriate cross training, and restoration. We can not only care for your athlete if an injury or overuse condition occurs but we can assess individuals and offer personalized warm up, cool down, and maintenance routines that compliment what their sport.

IMPORTANT: ALL ATHLETES, PARENTS, AND COACHES SHOULD UNDERSTAND OVERUSE AND BURNOUT! NO YOUNG ATHLETE SHOULD EVER TRAIN YEAR ROUND WITHOUT BREAKS. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO TAKE A MINIMUM OF 2 WEEKS TWICE A YEAR, PLACED 6 MONTHS APART TO DRASTICALLY REDUCE INJURY, OVERUSE, AND BURNOUT.
Diplomacy is having the wisdom and skill that is coupled with willingness to know when and why to apply or not to apply leverage.
Defining Sports Massage varies from provider to provider and even instructor to instructor. Often times if a person goes to a big box massage establishment and ask what does is mean to get a sports massage, the answer may be, "We do really deep work, " or "We do deep tissue and then stretch you." I would suggest finding an establishment that specializes in athletes as this is not what Sports Massage is supposed to be.
Let's get a few things cleared up...
1. Sports Massage IS NOT just for those who play sports! Everyone can benefit from the vast techniques that make up Sports Massage.
2. A safe and appropriate Sports Massage can only be done IF the therapist knows the context under which it will be given; pre-event, post event, maintenance, etc.
3. Sports Massage can at times be very uncomfortable but this does not mean is has to be extremely painful. There is not a "NO PAIN, NO GAIN" concept.
So as an MpowerD Therapist, we have been trained in dozens of different techniques, sometimes in a long certified program, perhaps a one-day training, or an online class, and probably most beneficial, with our colleagues. At MpowerD we spend a number of hours each month learning and sharing information and trying to improve our assessment skills, treatment modalities, amd follow up plans. Then we constantly challenge ourselves on how to handle different clients and their needs.
We have the freedom to use any technique we believe will relieve your pain, free up your tissue, and make you move more freely! We love having that freedom. We realize it is a serious responsibility and at every decision we use diplomacy! We consider all that you have said and what your goals are and we come up with the treatments and techniques to help you. This takes a deep understanding about soft tissues, movement, pain patterns, etc.
Cupping provides a variety of methods for the practitioner to choose from to produce amazing results. People often report that the experience stayed with them longer than most treatments, and the speed with which the treatment changes the tissue is truly amazing. When used in a treatment series, the results are cumulative. Yet even in a single treatment, a long-term physical issue may be resolved!

Thai Massage (Medical & Sports)
This services is very popular among people who are inflexible, train very hard, people who love deep compression, and pro athletes. Combining Thai Massage, otherwise known as "Lazy Man's Yoga," with a plethora of Sports Massage Techniques, and Medical Thai Techniques, offers a service like no other!
Traditional Thai massage uses no oils or lotions. The recipient remains clothed during a treatment. There is constant body contact between the giver and receiver, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked.
The recipient wears loose, comfortable clothing and lies on a mat or firm mattress on the floor. In Thailand, a dozen or so subjects may be receiving massage simultaneously in one large room. The true ancient style of the massage requires that the massage be performed solo with just the giver and receiver. The receiver will be positioned in a variety of yoga-like positions during the course of the massage, that is also combined with deep static and rhythmic pressures.
The massage generally follows designated lines ("sen") in the body. The legs and feet of the giver can be used to position the body or limbs of the recipient. In other positions, hands fix the body, while the feet do the massaging. A full Thai massage session may last two hours and includes rhythmic pressing and stretching of the entire body. This may include pulling fingers, toes, ears, cracking knuckles, walking on the recipient's back, and moving the recipient's body into many different positions. There is a standard procedure and rhythm to the massage, which the giver will adjust to fit the receiver.
